Colorado Teenager Dies in Motorcycle Crash with Car

A recent collision involving a motorcycle and a car in Aurora left the teenager on the bike dead, underscoring the risk of traveling on two wheels.

The tragic crash occurred on a recent Friday evening on Havana Street near East Sixth Avenue, The Denver Post reports. The 17-year-old motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital after his bike collided with a Cadillac sedan. He was later pronounced dead.

Police told the Post that the Cadillac driver was making a left turn from Havana onto Hanover Way when the collision happened. They said the motorcycle – described as a “dirt bike” that cops said was not legal for street use – collided with the sedan.

The deadly crash comes as fatal motorcycle accidents have been on the rise in Colorado. Last year was the deadliest on record for motorcyclists, with nearly 140 killed in accidents. That was a 33% jump from the previous year, despite the fact that many people stayed off of the road during the pandemic.

Motorcycles account for a mere 3% of the registered vehicles in Colorado, according to the state’s Department of Transportation. They accounted for 22% of the traffic fatalities in the state last year, however.

Monetary Compensation for Denver Traffic Accidents

Accidents can happen in a number of different ways, from a broadside crash involving a motorcycle and a car like the one in Aurora to a chain reaction collision involving several vehicles, and everything in between.

What these crashes have in common is that they often come with serious injuries and significant vehicle damage. They are also often the result of negligence by one or more drivers.

Anyone who has been hurt in a crash in Colorado has the right to seek compensation from those responsible. That includes money for medical bills, car damage, missed wages during recuperation and any long-term impact on the injured person’s ability to make a living and enjoy daily activities.

Navigating the state’s legal system can seem daunting, but the good news is that you do not need to go it alone. An experienced accident attorney will evaluate your case, investigate the accident, build the strongest possible claim for money damages and guide you through the process.
